Rare 1960's style Navy Midshipmen full size authentic suspension helmet signed by Roger Staubach in black marker. Staubach and the Midshipmen wore this style of helmet only once, during that ’62 Army/Navy Game in what was then known as Philadelphia Stadium. That season, Army’s new football coach, Paul Dietzel, had branded the Black Knights defense the “Chinese Bandits,” and Navy’s new coach, Wayne Hardin, countered with a large skull and crossbones logo positioned on the front of Navy's helmets. He complimented that logo with by having Chinese characters on both sides of their helmets that said "Beat Army." Staubach guided the Middies to the first of three straight victories over the Cadets, with a 34-14 win on Saturday, December 1, 1962.
