This lot features a Rick Barry ABA 1975 All-Star Game Award Plaque. The American Basketball Association (ABA) operated from the 1967–68 season until it ceased to exist with the ABA–NBA merger in 1976. The ABA presented a variety of annual awards and honors to recognize its players and executives. Named one of the 50 Greatest Players in history by the NBA in 1996, Rick Barry ranks among the most prolific scorers and all-around players in basketball history and is the only one to lead the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), ABA, and NBA in points per game in a season. He ranks as the all-time ABA scoring leader in regular season (30.5 points per game) and postseason (33.5) play, while his 36.3 points per game are the most in the NBA Finals history. Presented here is Rick Barry’s ABA All-Star plaque award. It was presented to Barry after he was selected to play in the ABA All-Star Game with the New York Nets (1970-72 era.). The front showcases that this was for the “5th Annual All-Star Game” with his name “RICK BARRY” engraved on the bottom portion of the Nets team logo shield. It measures in at 7-1/2? x 9-3/4?.
