Extremely rare piece of 1942 World Champions jewely and Cardinals history awarded to All-Star pitcher Murry Dickson after his mighty 106-game-winning wartime Cards team trounced the New York Yankees in five games in the '42 World Series. Completely original - don't confuse this elaborate gold buckle with a similar, more generic piece issued to Oldtimers in 1972 to honor surviving World Champs during a 50th anniversary event. In general, those pieces are more plain and lack the enameled logos and intricate engraving. Undoubtedly a prized possession, this originates from Dickson's estate and an era when World Series champs could chose between rings, shotguns, barware and... these beautiful gold buckles. Features raised "WORLD CHAMPIONS", scroll borders, oakleafs and figural cardinals-on-crossed-bats motif - measures 2" x 2-1/2" with fine enamel work and silver "WORLD" accent. Engraved, "Murray (sic) Dickson" and "1942".
