This lot features a truly one-of-a-kind Minnesota Gophers book signed by 1,120 Gophers alumni including the elusive Bruce Smith who was the only Gopher to ever win the Heisman Trophy back in 1941. An amazing collection of signatures accumulated by Lloyd "Snapper" Stein who played for the Gophers from 1928-1932 and was the head athletic trainer for the Gophers from 1935-1975. Included are the vast majority of signatures from the Gophers Football National Championship teams from 1904, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1940, 1941 and 1960 as well as Hockey National Championship teams from 1974, 1976, 1979, 2002 and 2003. Literally a "who's who" collection of every prominent alumnus who attended the University of Minnesota. The book was published in 1951 detailing the first 100 years of the University.
Signatures include Bruce Smith (passed away in 1967 at the age of only 46), Herb Brooks, Bud Grant, Bronko Nagurski, George Mikan, Dave Winfield, Paul Molitor, Wendell Anderson, Calvin Griffith, Steve Janaszak, Tony Dungy, Dan Gable, Mike Curtis, Charles Sanders, Bob Stein, Jeff Wright, Clyde Turner, Steve Christoff, Irv Wheeler, George Metzger, Clarence Spears, Fritz Crisler, Bernie Bierman, George Hauser, Pete Erickson, Eric Strobel, Phil Verchota, Rob McClanahan, Bob Berghoff, Tom Hall, Bill Baker, Mychal Thompson, John Mariucci, & Lou Hudson among many others.
