In June of 2000 the Michael Jordan Celebrity Golf Classic Skins game was expanded from 4 to 8 players. Michael Jordan, John Elway, Vince Gill, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Joe Morgan, Dan Quinn and Alex-Hyde Smith were the celebrities in the match. Michael had his jeweler engrave 8 Movado watches with "Thanks MJ" on the back one for each celebrity. It turned out Wayne Gretzky couldn't make it so Michael gave Gretzky's watch to Larry Spears who was at that time the General Manager of the Michael Jordan Golf Company. This comes with a signed letter of authenticity from Larry Spears on Michael Jordan Golf Company letterhead. These watches alone sell for $3,800.00 a piece so when you consider that this customized watch was personally ordered and handled by Michael Jordan for Wayne Gretzky you have a real story piece.
