Matt Lawton is a former Major League Baseball player who spent 13 seasons in the league primarily as an outfielder. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1991 and made his major league debut in 1995. Lawton was known for his strong arm and his ability to hit for both power and average. In 2000, he had his best season, hitting .305 with 24 home runs and 86 RBIs, while also stealing 20 bases. Lawton played for several teams throughout his career, including the Cleveland Indians, New York Mets, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He retired from baseball in 2006 with a career batting average of .267 and 1,273 hits.
