This lot features an exceedingly rare St. Paul Gophers c. 1907-1913 Negro League short brim cap exhibiting excellent overall use. Very attractive St. Paul Gophers logo on the front of this cap. Originally acquired from the collection of Hall of Famer John Montgomery "Monte" Ward who played in the late 1800's. Ward was the first player, executive, lawyer to make an effort to integrate Negro League Players. Ward had several Negro League items in his collection including three bats, several photos and this cap.
