This lot features a pair of Eddie Mathews 1954 Milwaukee Braves game used flannel pants. The pants are made by Wilson, and are a size 36. A strip tag ID'd with "Mathews 54" (name/year) is sewn inside. This season was the first in which the Braves wore Wilson uniform after moving away from Boston. The team began play in Milwaukee in 1953, but given the timing of the move (during spring training), the Braves' unis had already been ordered from Horace Partridge, a longtime uniform supplier in the area for the Braves. The pants show medium to heavy wear, with repairs in the waist area, the back and front of the right leg, and some reddish-pink staining in the front in the areas of the button and the zipper area. Extensive pilling also is present on both legs in the back.
