This lot features a Bobby Doerr c. 1946-48 Louisville Slugger signature model D2 bat exhibiting excellent overall use with ball marks, cleat marks, small crack and ball stitch impressions. This exceptional Hillerich & Bradsby Bobby Doerr bat measures 34 inches in length and weighs 32.9 ounces. Returning from missing the 1945 season due to the war, Doerr hit .271 in 1946 with 95 runs scored and 116 runs batted in, finishing third in the MVP voting (with Williams finishing first). A lifetime .288 hitter, Doerr was frequently razzed by Williams for not focusing more on improving his hitting; his 1986 Hall of Fame induction proved that he was a complete enough player to be inducted to the ultimate baseball shrine.
