John Smotz wore this blue and red Atlanta Braves cap c. 1989-91. This cap has the Braves "A" logo embroidered on the front. MLB Diamond Collection and New Era tags are sewn in the headband, which also features a size 7 3/8 flag. Smoltz’s number “29” is written on the underside of the brim in faded black marker. This cap shows moderate overall wear. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema authenticating its use. Miedema concludes: "After a thorough examination of this John Smoltz game used cap, it is my opinion that this cap is authentic as described and can be attributed to being used by Smoltz while with the Atlanta Braves c. 1989-91." Very nice and rare early career item from this legendary Hall of Fame pitcher. Smoltz was such a dominant pitcher he decided to help his team from 2002-2004 and became their closer. He had 144 saves during that 3 year stretch including a league leading 55 saves in 2002 before going back into the starting rotation in 2005.
