This lot features an Aladen Athletic Wear Corp. New York Yankees jacket game worn by legendary catcher Thurman Munson during the 1970's as Captain of the Bronx Bombers. The jacket originated from the collection of former Yankees travel secretary Mickey Morabito. The dark blue jacket features the Yankees "NY" logo stitched into the left chest in white-on-navy tackle twill. The logo has become discolored over time. Stitched into the left arm is a Yankees logo patch. Stitched into the interior of the jacket is an Aladen Athletic Wear Corp. manufacturer's tag featuring the Yankees logo. Stitched into the back interior of the jacket below the neckline is a white canvas tag with "Squatty 15" written on it in blue ink. Anchored to the jacket through the patch is a chain to hang the jacket. Stitched below the canvas tag is a size "L" flap tag. Munson played his entire 11-year professional baseball career with the New York Yankees. A nine-time All-Star, Munson is the only Yankee to win both the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema authenticating its use. Miedema concludes: "After a thorough examination of this 1970’s New York Yankees dugout jacket, it is my opinion that this jacket is authentic as described and used by Thurman Munson while with the Yankees."
