Larry Holmes is a retired professional boxer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight fighters in boxing history. He held the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title from 1978 to 1983 and successfully defended it 19 times, the second-longest streak in boxing history. Holmes was known for his powerful jab, excellent footwork, and endurance, and his fights were often characterized by his ability to outlast his opponents. He had several memorable bouts during his career, including a 1980 match against Muhammad Ali that Holmes won by technical knockout. Despite retiring in 2002 with a career record of 69 wins, 6 losses, and 44 knockouts, Holmes remains active in the boxing community and is considered a legend of the sport. (JSA ; CAS)
