This lot features the actual jersey worn by Minnesota Twins legend Kirby Puckett when he hit the most memorable home run in Twins history, a walk-off HR in game 6 of the 1991 World Series. This button up home white knit jersey features "TWINS" across the chest and his number "34" in red-on-blue tackle twill as well as "34" on the back in red-on-blue tackle twill. The inside collar of the jersey features a "Rawlings" size 50 manufacturer's tag while the "91-2" year/set swatch is sewn into the collar. The appropriate Twins team logo patch is located on the left sleeve while the World Series patch adorns the right sleeve. The jersey shows tremendous overall game use as Kirby wore this coveted jersey throughout the 1991 regular season and post season including the All-Star Game, Game 2 of the World Series and the incredibly memorable game 6 of the World Series. Kirby hit the game winning walk-off home run to send the series to a game 7. The Twins would ultimately win game 7 securing their 2nd World Series title in 5 years. Accompanied by both a letter of provenance from the Puckett family as well as a Sports Investors Authentication Letter of authenticity & two photomatches. The First photomatch shows this to be the actual jersey that Kirby was wearing when he hit the memorable walk off Home Run to win game 6 of the 1991 World Series. The second photomatch shows that Kirby wore this jersey for the 1991 All-Star Game in Toronto. The jersey can also be matched to being worn during Game 2 of the 1991 World Series. This is the holy grail for Kirby Puckett collectors and represents one of the most memorable moments in World Series history. The only other game used World Series jersey with similar significance that has recently sold was the jersey that Kirk Gibson wore during his memorable Home Run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series off of Dennis Eckersley. That jersey sold for $303,277.20 back in 2010. As great (and clutch) as Kirk Gibson was with the Tigers and Dodgers, he was never named to an All-Star team during his 17 year career. Puckett was a 10 time All-Star during his 12 seasons with the Twins and was forced into early retirement during the prime of his career due to glaucoma. Puckett was a first ballot Hall of Famer in 2001.
** This lot originates from the personal collection of Kirby Puckett and will be accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from the Puckett family. **
