Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! This is a Kirby Puckett 1984 Louisville Slugger EARLY ROOKIE YEAR game-used bat. The model number, length and weight specifications have been confirmed by the manufacturer's ordering records as being ordered by the player during the 1984 season. Upon further digging John Taube confirmed that the batch order was made on either June 14th or July 25th. This was so early in his Rookie Season that the bat still carried his block letter name. This Louisville Slugger Model R43 Kirby Puckett professional model bat exhibits evidence of excellent use with a crack from the handle to the center brand. Several ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left barrel. There is a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle. The handle had been taped in a spiral pattern to secure the crack, but the tape has been removed and some tape residue can be seen on the handle. Puckett's number (34) is written on the knob in black marker. This has been graded a GU 8 grade, HOWEVER, when asked about where the bat would grade after a professional restoration Taube said the bat would grade "either a GU 9 or GU 9.5" So there could be a nice upside on this bat.
