This lot features a pair of Keith Hernandez 1986 World Series game used and autographed cleats. The cleats exhibit outstanding use throughout. Each cleat has been signed and inscribed "Keith Hernandez 1986" in silver marker. Accompanied by 2 full Beckett Letters of Authenticity for the Hernandez signatures as well as a Sports Investors Letter of Authenticity deeming these cleats to be an apparent photomatch for Keith Hernandez using these cleats in the memorable 1986 World Series. The series is best remembered for its Game 6, which saw the Mets rally from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the 10th inning, despite having two outs and no one on base. The Red Sox, who held a 3–2 series lead, were twice one strike away from securing the championship, but failed to close out the inning as the Mets won off an error by Boston first baseman Bill Buckner opening the door for the Mets to claim the series in Game 7.
