This lot features a rare Justin Jefferson 2020 Minnesota Vikings game issued and autographed rookie jersey. Jefferson actually gave this jersey to Julio Jones in a jersey swap. JJ signed and extensively inscribed the jersey "To Julio, Keep Balling Bro. Been watching you since Bama. Big Fan! Best WR in the NFL. Jusin Jefferson". The Nike size 42 jersey is tagged from 2017 and has 2 inches of added length. It was thought that this could possibly be THE jersey that JJ wore against the Atlanta Falcons during his memorable rookie season. Players were not allowed to do jersey swaps on the field after the games in 2020 due to Covid restrictions. In reviewing photos of this game, it was determined that this jersey was not the one worn in that game. In conducting further research, it was learned that jerseys worn during Crucial Catch (October 18th vs. Atlanta Falcons) and Salute to Service Games (November 8th vs. Detroit) were not allowed to be part of the players jersey swaps. The jerseys from these two games were sent directly to the NFL and sold through fundraising auctions. This jersey was likely a backup jersey of JJ's for that Falcons game though not used in that game. The fact that the jersey is tagged from 2017 is unique but not uncommon among Vikings jerseys. We've photo matched other Vikings jerseys that were used multiple years after the tagging period. Michael Floyd was the only other #18 to play for the Vikings prior to JJ and he wore a jersey size 38. JJ had 88 receptions for 1,400 yards during his rookie season despite not starting the first 2 games.
