Incredibly rare and unique professional model glove issued by the United States Army to Joe DiMaggio. The brown leather glove has "Professional Model" and "Special Service U.S. Army" stamped into the glove to the right of the pocket and "DiMaggio J P" stamped along the outside finger. The J P refers to Joseph Paul DiMaggio. The glove was originally sourced from Nicky Silva who was a friend of DiMaggio's during their days together playing with the Oakland Oaks of the Pacific Coast League in the 1930's. The glove resided in the Barry Halper collection for years and was a part of the Halper-Sotheby's offering in December 1999. The glove is accompanied by a letter of provenance form Charles "Nicky" Silva dated July 15th, 1980 as well as the original Sotheby's Certificate of Authenticity. Incredibly rare and uniquely historic Joe DiMaggio used item and piece of American History.
