A very rare manufacturer sample, produced by BALFOUR. The proper markings are stamped inside (LGB GTC) of this Size-13 ring. Being 26-years-old, this ring is in fabulous *Mint Condition*, with a beautiful purple translucent stone, set on top, and 5-CZ diamonds mounted in the center, weighing 27.9-grams, and legendary Head-Coach Jim Valvano's name on the side. N.C. State is a founding member of the ACC, and prior to joining the Atlantic Coast Conference in 1954, the Wolfpack were in the "Southern Conference", where they won 7-conference championships. As a member of the ACC, the Wolfpack have won 10 "ACC Championships" (1987 being the very last) and 2 "National Championships". NC State's unexpected 1983 Title was one of the most memorable in NCAA history. In 1987, the Wolfpack made another surprising run in the ACC Tournament. In the championship game, NC State defeated rival, and heavily favored North Carolina, which had gone undefeated in the ACC. It would be the program's last ACC Championship to date, as Jim Valvano finished his coaching career with a 209-114 record (.647) at NC State, and will be always remembered for running up & down the court after winning the 1983 National Championship ....seemingly in disbelief, and looking for someone to hug. Just 8-weeks before he died of cancer, tragically at only 47-years of age, his extremely inspirational speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards will also be remembered for years to come.
