This lot features a James Monroe c. 1817 signed & framed land grant document. In this document dated May 26, 1817, President Monroe is granting Thomas Sullivan land in Kaskaskia, Illinois. This document is countersigned by Josiah Meigs, Commissioner of the General Land Office. The document shows natural imperfections due to its 200+ year age but has otherwise remained in respectable condition. Rare piece of history from the 5th President of the United States. The framed display measures 18x29 overall. Accompanied by a full Beckett Letter of Authenticity.
