This lot features a Harvey Kuenn used leather travel bag. Kuenn's name is embroidered into the bag in gold stitching along with the Brewers logo. This bag was used by Kuenn from the mid 1970's until he retired in 1983. Harvey Kuenn was a former American professional baseball player and manager. Born in 1930 in West Allis, Wisconsin, Kuenn played as a shortstop and outfielder for several teams in Major League Baseball (MLB), including the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants. He was a ten-time All-Star and won the American League batting title in 1959. After his playing career, Kuenn served as a coach and manager, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to their first-ever postseason appearance in 1981. He was known for his exceptional hitting ability and his leadership qualities, and was widely respected by his peers and fans alike. Despite passing away at a relatively young age in 1988, Kuenn left a lasting impact on the sport of baseball and is remembered as one of its most talented and dedicated players.
