This lot features a George Kelly c. 1922-25 New York Giants Louisville Slugger H&B bat exhibiting heavy overall use with ball marks, cleat marks, checking (grain swelling), repaired handle crack and back barrel. Rare, century-old bat of this Hall of Famer. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA- John Taube Letter of Authenticity. George "High Pockets" Kelly, a first baseman, made a significant impact during his time with the New York Giants. Joining the team in 1915, Kelly was known for his exceptional defensive skills and consistent hitting. He was a key player during the Giants' successful era in the 1920s, contributing to their multiple National League pennants and World Series championships. His nickname "High Pockets" was derived from his tall stature and his ability to stretch for throws around the first base bag. Kelly's overall offensive and defensive abilities, along with his contributions to the Giants' championship runs, solidified his legacy as an important player in the team's history during the early 20th century.
