This lot features an incredibly rare Eddie Plank E107 Breisch-Williams series card. This particular Eddie Plank card is especially coveted by serious collectors, both because this is widely recognized as his rookie card, and the fact that the portrait is the same as that which appears on his famous T206 card. (The E107 Plank is much more rare than the T206 Plank.) Issued in 1903, E107s have long been revered by collectors. This set represents the only major baseball-card set of the era, features many players that appear in no other sets, and includes the first cards ever issued of many important stars and Hall of Famers, including Eddie Plank. The card displays condition issues including rounded corners, a chip out of the top border, areas of staining, and a few small pencil notations on the front and back. Despite the obvious condition issues, this is a very presentable and coveted example of this Eddie Plank rarity.
