DeBartolo Jr., commonly known as Eddie DeBartolo, is an American businessman and former owner of the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). Born in 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio, DeBartolo inherited his family's real estate business and quickly expanded it into a successful empire, with holdings in a variety of industries, including shopping malls, race tracks, and professional sports teams. DeBartolo purchased the 49ers in 1977 and quickly turned the team into a powerhouse, with five Super Bowl victories during his tenure as owner. In addition to his business and sports career, DeBartolo has been involved in a number of philanthropic and charitable endeavors, including the establishment of the DeBartolo Family Foundation.
