This lot features a Chris Mullin 1989-90 Golden State Warriors road blue jersey showing outstanding usage wear. Mullin was recently inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2011. The jersey features the captain "C" on the right front chest and the NBA logo on the left front chest. "WARRIORS" and "17" tackle twill numbering/lettering are sewn on the front while "MULLIN" and "17" are sewn on the back. The crown style Medalist Sand Knit tagging is sewn into the lower left front tail along with the "90" year tag. The NBA would switch from the Dureen Sand Knit jerseys to the Champion made mesh jerseys in 1990-91. Mullin didn't start wearing the captain "C" until later in the 1989-90 season as evident by getty images photo #53033108 featuring Mullin wearing the road blue with a captain "C" against the Chicago Bulls in January 1990. The tagging and lettering/numbering is all original and unaltered. Nice, early career jersey from the new HOF inductee. Mullin signed the back #7 of the jersey. Authenticated by MEARS and graded an A8. MEARS typically doesnt not grade post 1987 jerseys higher than A5 but did so with this jersey due to its outstanding use and the captain "C" added. Sand Knit made NBA jerseys are highly desireable by collectors due to its quality and rarity as Champion would begin to produce mesh jerseys in higher quantities in 1990-91.
