This lot features a Cal Ripken Jr. 1999-2000 Baltimore Orioles Batting Practice Used Model Bat. The 1999 season marked the first time since 1981 that Baltimore Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr. appeared in less than 112 games. Still, the Hall of Famer made his 86 games count, hitting a mercurial .340 with 18 home runs. Subsequently, his penultimate season in 2000 saw the "Iron Man" bat .256 with 79 hits, 15 home runs, and 56 RBI en route to earning his 18th All-Star appearance. The offered Louisville Slugger P72 model bat dates to those two seasons leading up to 2001, the farewell season for the MLB record-holder for most consecutive games played. This offered Louisville Slugger P72 model bat displays outstanding use. The bat had a handle crack that has been nicely repaired (after the PSA/DNA LOA was issued). The bat, used by Ripken for batting practice, as evidenced by the adhesive tape remnants on the barrel. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA John Taube Letter of Authenticity (1B27089).
