Bert Blyleven 2,000th Career Strikeout Game Used Stat Baseball July 12, 1979 w/Blyleven Signed Letter of Provenance

This lot features Bert Blyleven’s hand written game used stat baseball from July 12, 1979 when Blyleven pitching for the Pirates collected his 2,000th career strikeout. Facing Houston Astros batter Terry Puhl the first batter of the game Blyleven threw his signature curveball on a 1-2 count to strikeout Puhl collecting his 2,000th of his Hall of Fame Career. Blyleven went onto win the game 5-3. This is the actual baseball used to collect his 2,000th strikeout.

Blyleven collected these baseballs after the game and personally hand wrote everything pictured on the baseball at that specific time. If he pitched a complete game, these are the actual final out baseballs. All other baseballs are game used from the stated game.
