This lot features a Bert Blyleven 1980 game used Pittsburgh Pirates glove sourced directly from Bert himself. This Rawlings professional model XFG 2 fielders glove displays evidence of substantial use. Excellent wear can be seen in the pocket, face of the web, and throughout the body of the glove. The index finger sleeve above the "Holdster" is depressed from Blyleven's extended index finger. The tips and back of the fingers display appropriate scuffing. Appearing on the back of the thumb sleeve is 'BLY 11' in red marker. Appearing on the Rawlings wrist label in black marker is 'Bly 11'. An illegible notation above 'Bly 11' is on the wrist label also in black marker. The glove is constructed of Rawlings top grade "Heart of the Hide" tanned steer hide bound with tanned rawhide laces and nylon stitching. The fingers are highlighted with neutral welting. Features include a pro-style closed web, a closed "Fastback" with finger "Holdster", a 'Deep Well Pocket' a dual laced palm hinge and an adjustable wrist strap. Manufacturer's labeling includes a white on red Rawlings wrist label to the left of the finger "Holdster" and a fraying embroidered logo at the base of the web. Blyleven posted an 8-13 record for the Pirates with a 3.82era during the 1980 season. Accompanied by a detailed Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA (John Taube & Dennis Esken) as well as a signed Letter of Provenance from Bert Blyleven.
