This lot features Bert Blyleven’s historic 1st World Series Win hand written game used final out stat baseball from October 14, 1979 when the Pirates beat the Orioles 7-1 in Game 5 of the World Series. Blyleven came in relief in 6th inning finishing the game giving up 3 hits, 0 runs and struck out 3. This was the last out baseball from this game and his first World Series victory which eventually helped the Pirates defeat the Orioles in 7 games and his first World Series title!

Blyleven collected these baseballs after the game and personally hand wrote everything pictured on the baseball at that specific time. If he pitched a complete game, these are the actual final out baseballs. All other baseballs are game used from the stated game.
