This lot features Bert Blyleven’s hand written game used stat baseball from September 27, 1987 when the Twins defeated the Royals 8-1. Blyleven pitched a complete game giving up 5 hits, 1 run and struck out 8. This win proved pivotal in the Twins historic 1987 World Series Championship season when the next night in Texas they clinched to head to the post season. The game was also pitched on Blyleven’s son Todd’s 15th birthday which he wrote on the ball and he passed fellow Hall of Famer Juan Marichal in the All Time Wins list collecting his 244th career win!

Blyleven collected these baseballs after the game and personally hand wrote everything pictured on the baseball at that specific time. If he pitched a complete game, these are the actual final out baseballs. All other baseballs are game used from the stated game.

** This lot originates from the personal collection of Bert Blyleven and will be accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Bert Blyleven. Please know that a portion of your bid will go towards charities supported by Bert and his wife Gayle **
