This lot features a Baltimore Orioles 1983 World Series Championship 10K gold ring with genuine diamonds on top. The ring was originally presented to "WERLE" and measures approximately to a size 14. William Werle was a Baltimore Orioles scout and also pitched 6 seasons in the major leagues with the Pirates. The Balfour 10k gold markings are stamped inside the ring. Cal Ripken, Jr. and Eddie Murray, led the 1983 Baltimore Orioles to 98 wins and the World Series title, cruising past the Philadelphia Phillies in five games. The ring reads: "1983 WORLD CHAMPIONS" on the face with the Orioles logo set across a diamond-crusted center. The left shank pictures the Series trophy and the name "WERLE." The right shank reads: "WORLD SERIES 1983" and features the bird mascot swinging a bat with a crown on his head. Hall of Fame ace Jim Palmer made history during the "I-95" Series, becoming the first pitcher - and still the only one to date - to win a World Series game in three different decades. The city of Baltimore would not win another title in any sport until the Ravens captured the 2000 Super Bowl.
