This lot features a 1991 "Gold Glove Hall of Fame" Award presented to Jim Kaat & signed by Kaat. This prestigious award was given to those players who had accumulated at least 12 Gold Gloves during their Major League career. At the time of the November 1991 banquet at New York City's Waldorf-Astoria hotel, the list included only the following: Willie Mays, Brooks Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Johnny Bench and Jim Kaat.
The trophy follows the familiar format, with the eponymous gold glove mounted between golden baseballs atop a ziggurat of plaques engraved with the player's face and text which reports, "Presented to Jim Kaat in Recognition of his 16 Consecutive Awards 1962-77, Rawlings Gold Glove Award Hall of Fame." The trophy presents without any flaws of note. Unquestionably one of the rarest and most prestigious baseball awards that exists. Accompanied by full Letters of Authenticity from both PSA/DNA and Beckett Authentication Services.
