The Pac-8 Champion Stanford Indians upset the Big 10 Champion Michigan Wolverines by a point, 13–12, winning the Rose Bowl for the 2nd consecutive season. The Player of the Game was Stanford quarterback Don Bunce. Michigan had a perfect season going at 11-0 heading into the game.
