This lot features a 1965 Minnesota Twins American League Champions plaque from Old Metropolitan Stadium offices. This plaque once hung on the office walls of Met Stadium in Minneapolis. The 18.5x22.5 inch brown wood framed display features three gold metal elements on a black metal background, including a 4x15 inch engraved plate reading "American League Champs" over a 9x10 inch engraved Twins logo and the engraved "1965" with the Twins' "TC" logo in the bottom center. The metal on the Twins logo in the center shows some signs of wear, with no other obvious defects in the display. The 1965 Twins won the AL pennant with an impressive 102-60 regular season record. It was the team's first pennant since moving from Washington to Minnesota, and the 102 wins remains a team record. The Twins lost the '65 World Series to the Dodgers in an exciting 7-game series.
