The jersey made by Wilson is Payton’s standard size 44, and does feature year tagging. The 1986-87 attribution is based on the design of the Wilson tag in the outer left front tail, combined with the years in which Payton was still an active player with the Bears used that style of Wilson label. All number, NOB plate, GSH sleeve lettering, and sleeve length and cut, in general, matches up very well with 1986/87 Bears game photos at home. The jersey displays moderate game wear, most obvious being scuffing and staining on the front and back numbers, most noticeably on the front “4”. The jersey itself shows a large stain on the front of the shoulder, and the jersey itself bears several small rips, both repaired and unrepaired.
