Wally Backman is a former Major League Baseball infielder who played for several teams during his career, including a brief stint with the Minnesota Twins in 1989. Backman was known for his scrappy, hard-nosed style of play, and was a fan favorite wherever he went. He played a key role in the New York Mets' World Series championship in 1986, batting .333 in the series and providing a spark at the top of the lineup. Backman joined the Twins in 1989, but played in just 41 games for the team before being released.
