Vintage 1951 Topps Red Back Set

This lot features a 1951 Topps Red Back set consisting of 52 cards in all. The 1951 Topps Red Back and Blue Back baseball card sets were the first pure baseball card sets ever issued by the Topps Gum Company. The 1951 Topps Red Backs cards measure 2" by 2 5/8" and can be used to play a card game version of baseball. The cards were packaged as two connected cards with a piece of caramel in penny packs. Although the values don't match the more storied sets from the era, 1951 Topps Red Backs Baseball cards offer one of the first releases from Topps Baseball. As an early entry from the Topps Baseball brand, the simple set is part of collecting history.
