(JSA) Tony Perez is a former professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues from 1964 to 1986. He spent the majority of his career with the Cincinnati Reds and is best known for his role as the team's starting first baseman during the Big Red Machine era of the 1970s. Perez was a seven-time All-Star and helped lead the Reds to two World Series championships in 1975 and 1976. He was known for his strong hitting and clutch performances in key moments, and he finished his career with 2,732 hits, 1,652 runs batted in, and 379 home runs. After retiring as a player, Perez went on to have a successful coaching and managerial career, and he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
