This lot features an Adirondack Bog Stick model 246S Rod Carew c. 1968 Minnesota Twins game used bat. The bat measures 33 inches, weighs 31.6 ounces and exhibits heavy use with ball marks, ball stitch impressions, repaired handle crack, blue bat rack streaks, pine tar and "BEAT 21 & 12" written on the knob in faded black marker. Cesar Tovar wore #12 for the Twins in 1968 and it is known that both Carew and Tovar would, on occasion, use each other's bats. They each had the same style of pine tar application and there are images of Carew using Tovar bats. Given the 33-inch length, this bat likely garnered more use by Tovar as Carew preferred longer bats during this time period. Carew didn't start ordering 33-inch bats until 1984. Carew is a member of baseball's Hall of Fame and elite 3,000 Hit Club. The bat is accompanied by PSA/DNA Authentication.
