This lot features a Ralph Sampson autographed custom jersey. Ralph Sampson is a retired professional basketball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest college basketball players of all time. He played for the University of Virginia from 1979 to 1983, leading the team to four NCAA tournament appearances and three ACC championships. Sampson was a three-time National College Player of the Year and was the first overall pick in the 1983 NBA Draft. He played in the NBA for 10 seasons, spending time with the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Washington Bullets. Sampson was a four-time All-Star and won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 1984. Although his NBA career was hampered by injuries, he remains one of the most dominant and iconic players in college basketball history, and his contributions to the sport are still celebrated today.
