This lot features a 1994-97 era Pedro Martinez professional model bat from early in his career while playing with the Montreal Expos of the National League. This vintage H&B gamer shows excellent overall use. The handle is wrapped with tape with moderate pine tar. Pedro’s number 45 is written on the knob in black marker. The knob was originally blackened but was refinished. This number is not in Pedro’s hand and was written post use. "PEDRO MARTINEZ MONTREAL EXPOS" stamped into the barrel in block lettering. The Model number W248 bat has been signed "Pedro Martinez #45 Cy 97"on the barrel in thin blue marker. This bat is from Pedro's early years with the now defunct Expos. He had one of his best seasons in 1997 when he went 17-8 with a 1.90 ERA and 305 K's while winning the Cy Young Award. Martinez was an 8x All Star and finished his Hall of Fame career with 3,154 Ks along with 219 wins and a career 2.93 era.
