He was born on August 14, 1956, in Arnold, Missouri. Wallace began his racing career in the late 1970s and made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 1980. Over the course of his career, he won 55 Cup Series races, including the 1989 championship. Wallace retired from racing in 2005 and later transitioned to broadcasting, working as an analyst for ESPN and NBC Sports' NASCAR coverage. He has also been involved in various business ventures, including owning and operating short tracks and car dealerships.
