Walter Payton c. mid 1980's Chicago Bears professional model home jersey exhibiting solid overall use with turf burns and helmets scrapes. The Wilson size 42 tag is sewn into the lower left front tail and the jersey has "34" screened on the front and back. There are thread remnants on the back of the jersey as the nameplate has been taken off. Payton was known to have worn size 44 jerseys so it is entirely possible this one was not actually worn in a game but rather training camp given the stripped nameplate. "Sweetness" as he was affectionately referred to, was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996. Hall of Fame NFL player and coach Mike Ditka described Payton as the greatest football player he had ever seen—but even greater as a human being.
