This lot features a complete set of 1933 R71 Planters Nuts Hunted Animals card. There are 25 cards in this obscure set that is difficult to acquire in its entirety.
This series of 25 “Hunted Animals” trading cards was issued by Planters Nut & Chocolate Company, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; Suffolk, Virginia; San Francisco California during 1933. This series of 25 trading cards was issued with BIG GAME Peanut Blocks. The untitled card fronts feature color artwork of a “Hunted Animal” surrounded by a medium-size border. The only text on the card front is the following copyright line … “© 1933 W.F.P. CO.”.
The Backs of the cards are divided into three vertical sections: (1) The top left section contains the card number in large letters. The top right section has three lines identifying the card series: (a) of a series of twenty-five (b) HUNTED ANIMALS (c) Trapped animals to follow. (2) The center section of the card Back contains the title of the card, and includes a descriptive text of the particular animal being hunted. (3) The lower section of the card Back is sectioned off with a thick black line followed by the following three lines of advertising text: (a) BIG GAME Peanut Blocks (b) Planters Nut & Chocolate Company (3) Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Suffolk, Va., San Francisco, Cal.
