This lot features a vintage blonde Johnny Bench 1977 Cincinnati Reds signature model B278 bat measuring 35.375 inches and weighing 33.1 ounces. The bat has a cupped end and shows excellent player use charcateristics with ball marks, stitch marks, cleat marks, cracked/repaired handle and #5 written on the knob in black marker. "Game" has also been written on the knob in red. Bench is the best all around catcher to ever play the game. He appeared in 14 All Star games and won 2 NL MVP Awards. The 1977 season was a good one for Bench as he hit 31 HR's and 109 RBI. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA/Taube LOA grading the bat a GU 8. High quality bat from the prime of Bench's career.
