This equipment bag was used by Jack Hughes back in 1980 when Team USA shocked the world by defeating the seemingly invincible Soviet Union before going on to win the gold medal. The equipment exhibits significant use. Also included in this lot is an actual Team USA game worn helmet. The helmet does not have any sort of player identification. Extremely difficult to locate any of these helmets today. Hughes and Ralph Cox were the last 2 players cut before the 1980 Olympic games were played. Hughes, a Harvard grad, played in 49 games back in 1979-80 for Team USA leading up to the Olympic games. The bag and helmet were originally acquired by Jimmy Steichen as he worked for Team USA at the time.
