A great close-up photograph of Hall-of-Famer Frank “Home Run” Baker in his Philadelphia Athletics uniform, circa 1914. Baker played third base with the Athletics for seven seasons, (1908-1914) before winding up his career with the NY Yankees. With 1838 hits and lifetime .307 average, Baker was most known for his homerun-hitting prowess, receiving the nickname during the 1911 World Series, when he hit two home runs against the Giants. Baker won the home run title for four years, and collected 96 lifetime HRs, remarkable in the dead ball era. This 3 ¼” x 4 ¼” first generation photograph is in VG condition with adhesive marks on the front near the bottom, which do not affect the stunning central image. Adhesive marks and adhered paper are also present on the reverse.
