This lot features an Official International League Spalding baseball signed on the sweet spot by legendary New York Yankees slugger Babe Ruth in black fountain pen. "The Sultan of Swat" completely dominated his sport and era more than any other athlete in history of professional sports. The Babe was a pitcher for the first 5 years of his career and actually won the first of his 12 American League Home Run Title with 11 HR's in 1918 while hitting part time on game that he pitched! Ruth began playing and hitting everyday in 1920 and his HR total rocketed to 54 when other "Home Run Hitters" from the era would end the year in single digits. There are no signature removals, a true Babe Ruth single signed baseball. Very nice Babe Ruth signature as the original owner place a piece of tape over the signature to protect it from rubbing off and passed it down to our consignor. Babe Ruth's signature remains the most sought after autograph in baseball history and this is a nice example from his most memorable year both from an individual and team perspective. Accompanied by a full JSA/James Spence Authentication Letter of Authenticity.
