This lot features a 1983 Johnny Bench Cincinnati Reds Game Model Jersey. The jersey has the tear/size tag sewn in but was never worn by the player. This jersey was acquired by our consignor directly from a Wilson jersey representative back in 1983 and has remained in his possession until now. Great jersey to have signed by the player to create a very unique collectible. Johnny Bench is a former professional baseball player who spent his entire 17-year career with the Cincinnati Reds. He was a catcher and is widely regarded as one of the greatest catchers in the history of the game. Bench won two National League Most Valuable Player awards during his career, and was also a 10-time Gold Glove winner and a 14-time All-Star. He helped lead the Reds to back-to-back World Series championships in 1975 and 1976. Bench was known for his incredible defensive skills and powerful arm, as well as his ability to hit for power. He finished his career with 389 home runs and a lifetime batting average of .267. Bench was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989, cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats of the sport.
