The 1980 Seattle Mariners were a major league baseball team that represented the city of Seattle in the American League. The team finished the regular season with a record of 59-103, last place in the American League West division. Despite the poor record, the 1980 Mariners had several standout performances, including outfielder Tom Paciorek, who batted .326 and was named to the American League All-Star team, and pitcher Rick Honeycutt, who posted a 2.42 ERA and 14 saves. However, the Mariners struggled to find consistency throughout the season and were hampered by injuries and poor performances from several key players. The team's struggles led to the firing of manager Darrell Johnson midway through the season and signaled the start of a rebuilding period for the Mariners that would eventually lead to their first playoff appearance in 1995.
